Hotels in Gaborone: A review of Masa square hotel
Location
Masa square hotel is perfectly situated in the city center of Gaborone. The hotel is close to everything you’ll need; Shopping malls- there is even one on the Masa square building, countless restaurants, and it is a few minutes away from Sir Seretse Khama International Airport. Even though it is right in the center, it still offers that tranquility that guests are always looking for. If you’re not yet sold out by the location of this beautiful hotel, I hope the room types below will help you make the decision.
The room
The hotel has 85 standard rooms, 44 club rooms, 8 suites, and 13 twin rooms which are all ensuite to provide comfort to its guests. The rooms (like the club room I stayed at) are sensual with large windows for perfect views providing amazing natural light during the day and beautiful city lights during the night. The rooms are big but the arrangement and color choice within the rooms make them even bigger.
Some of the amenities that come with the room;
- The room is airconditioned
- The room comes with a minibar, a small fridge which is always filled with a bottle of water for each guest every day
- A couch to relax from.
- A desk to get some work done
- Superfast wifi
- A flat big flat-screen satellite tv to stay informed and entertained.
- A safe to keep your expensive valuables
- A big and comfortable bed with 4 fluffy pillows (the most comfortable pillows I’ve slept on in my entire life – I swear I am not even exaggerating.)
- Crystal white and smooth bedsheets plus a duvet
- For coffee lovers, the room comes with a coffee maker- now who wouldn’t want that kind of hotel stay
The bathroom!
I normally judge the hotel’s cleanliness and worthiness by how good the bathroom is. Even though Masa square hotel is ranked as a 4-star, I personally rank the bathroom a 5-star. The bathroom has a big bathtub, a big walk-in shower with multiple outlets; the overhead, midsection and the handle. With a huge fitted mirror on the wall and different storage areas, the bathroom did not disappoint at all. I know to always carry my own toiletries but the hotel provided almost all of them with an exception of just toothpaste. The bathroom was always clean, towels crystal white and can always be changed as per the guest’s request.
The restaurant
Masa square hotel is home to Don Carlos restaurant, an upscale and Mediterranean style kind of restaurant serving different types of meals from buffet breakfast, lunch to dinner. For my stay, I had the breakfast included in the room fare and I was treated to a luxurious buffet breakfast every morning. Another big plus is that you don’t eat the same things for breakfast every day, the chefs keep switching what they serve, something that keeps you longing for breakfast time.
The hotel facilities
Rooftop swimming pool
The hotel offers a swimming pool at the rooftop of the 3rd floor overlooking a bar just to hang out or cool off the heat. However much I wanted to take a dive in the pool, I couldn’t as it was wintertime in Botswana and the water was really cold.
Absolut bar
Just next to the swimming pool on the rooftop, Absolut bar is the place to be to unwind from all the hustles and the bustles of the day and enjoy great views of Gaborone. Absolut bar serves different kinds of beverages from vodkas, gins, to cocktails. You can even tell the bartender how strong/light you want your cocktail to be. I am a light drinker so I had to request the bartender to go easy on me.
Gym
Masa square hotel also has a well-equipped gym. I am not really a huge work out kind of person so I didn’t really use it. But I was able to peep in while on my way to the swimming pool. But if you’re someone who wants to stay in shape while on the road, then Masa square hotel will be a perfect choice.
Other Facilities
Other facilities at Masa square hotel include a conference hall where business travelers can hold meetings from, laundry services as per guests request and an amazing guest lobby.
Conclusion.
My stay at Masa square hotel was really an incredible experience and it was such a nice way to end my trip in Botswana. The staff were very friendly and professional. If I ever go back to Gaborone, I’d definitely stay at this amazing place again. It’s one of those places that are just home away from home. So if you’re looking for the best accommodation in Gaborone, Masa square hotel is the place to be.
Ps. I did not receive anything from Masa square hotel, it is just an honest review from someone who enjoyed her stay with them. And before you go, don’t forget to book your stay with Masa square hotel from here.
